Instructions for submitting pictures

This information is organized into the following four areas:

  1. Pictures sell
  2. What pictures to send and how to order them
  3. How to submit pictures to your listing
  4. Picture do's and don'ts
  5. How to submit additional/replacement pictures for your listing
  1. Pictures sell

Pictures are truly worth a thousand words! Vacationers want to "see" what they might be renting, so consider showing as many pictures as you think you would want to see yourself. We have found that listings with multiple pictures receive many more inquiries than those with just a few. Vacationers like to see the exterior of the home, one or more interior shots, and any noteworthy views from the home, especially water. Because pictures tell your story, we encourage you to add additional pictures beyond the eight that are included, especially if your home commands a high rent.

If you would like to improve the quality of your pictures, our staff photographer can take numerous interior, exterior, and beach photos. More info.

  2. What pictures to send and how to order them

An exterior picture of the home/condo is usually the first picture on the listing. There is no caption with this picture. Be sure to take it on a day when the house is in bright sunlight with minimal shadows. Move cars out of the way.

The remainder of your pictures appear at the bottom of the picture page. These can be views, interior, or even floor plans (as long as they are clear). Particularly effective are 4" by 11" wide-angle views. Each additional picture needs a caption. We usually suggest ordering the pictures as if the vacationer were taking a tour of the home, i.e., front shot, fabulous view if you have one, living room, family room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, additional bedrooms, deck/patio, backyard, or nearest beach.

  3. How to submit pictures to your listing

There are four ways you can add pictures to your listing:

    1. Upload pictures yourself via Picture Central from Homeowner Center
      • Log in with user ID and password.
      • Click on link called "Picture Central".
      • Follow directions for taking pictures from your computer. Note: only pictures in "jpg" format may be uploaded.
    2. Send pictures as email attachment
      • If you are able, attach your pictures to an email and send them to photos@weneedavacation.com
      • Not familiar with attaching files to email? While composing a new email, look for an option called "insert." Click on this and then select "file" from the dropdown menu. (Some operating systems may have an "attachment" button on the toolbar. If so, simply click on it.) Your computer file directory will open, which will allow you to find the location of your pictures and select the file(s) you want to send.
      • Either enter your desired captions through our "Maintain your property listing,' or when you send the pictures, tell us the order you want them in and a caption for each.
      • Be sure to identify your property ID in the subject of all email you send.
    3. Send your website URL to us at photos@weneedavacation.com
      • Please be advised that if this is anything other than your personal website, i.e., another vendor's website, we will need permission from that site to copy the pictures. Tell us which ones you would like us to use and provide captions.
      • Be sure to identify your property ID in the subject of all email you send.
    4. Send pictures to us via U.S. Mail
      • Pictures may be mailed to us at:
      • All Seasons Vacation Rentals
        30 Mayo Road
        Wellesley, MA 02482
      • Be sure to write your name and property ID on the back of the pictures.
      • Do not use markers, as they can bleed through to the front of the picture.
      • Either enter your desired captions through our "Maintain your property listing,' or when you send the pictures, tell us the order you want them in and a caption for each.
      • Send an SASE if you would like them returned (self-addressed stamped envelope).
  4. Picture do's and don'ts
    • DO send electronic pictures in .jpg format.
    • DO try to utilize all eight pictures that come with your listing.
    • DO make sure that pictures emailed are a minimum of 390 pixels on the longest side. If we try to enlarge pictures, they often look grainy and distorted and in general result in poor quality.
    • DO send original snapshots to be scanned. If you want them returned, please enclose a SASE.
    • DON'T send photocopies. They don't scan well and will not represent your home effectively.
    • DON'T send slides or negatives. Also, we cannot take pictures scotch taped to anything.
    • DO identify your pictures by writing your property ID, your name, and the desired caption on the back of each picture. Do not use markers or red ink as they can bleed through and often can be seen on the front of the pictures.
    • DO provide captions, regardless of how you send us your pictures, so the vacationer will know what they are viewing.
    • DON'T send pictures with people in them. Vacationers like to envision themselves vacationing in the home, not the homeowner's family!
  5. How to submit additional/replacement pictures for your listing
    • If you would like to add additional pictures to your existing listing, click on Picture Central, the fourth link on your Homeowner welcome page. Follow the directions accordingly. The charge for each additional picture beyond the four that come with a listing is $10, and payment must be completed before we will process your pictures. We encourage you to use Picture Central to upload your additional pictures, but you may submit additional pictures using any of the three ways listed above. We make every effort to post new pictures quickly and average a couple of days.
    • If you would like to replace existing pictures on your listing, select one of these methods:
      1. Picture Central: Click on Picture Central, the fourth link on your Homeowner welcome page. Follow the directions to upload your replacement pictures. There is no charge to replace a picture using this method. Note: only pictures in "jpg" format may be uploaded.
      2. Email, web, or U.S. mail: You can email your pictures, send us your website URL and identify the replacement pictures, or send your pictures via U.S. mail. There is a $5 per picture replacement fee for each of these three options. All fees relating to picture replacements must be completed before we will process them. Please use the link on your Homeowner page for payment of miscellaneous fees.
